Summer Livin'

It's been a long 8 months since the last time I ventured to this corner of the internet. How lonely my blog must have become since November of 2009! I would love to recount all that has happened in my life between then and now but let's face it, this is me, which means there was a whole lot of work and not too many fanciful stories to tell. I would hate to bore anyone (and everyone) to death. But while I'm here there's no harm in mentioning a few of the fun things that I did manage to take part in this summer:

Walt Disney Family Museum

This museum dedicated to the Disney family opened up at the Presidio in San Francisco last October and I have been dying to go since I heard the news. I finally got my chance just a couple of weeks ago with the dad and it was just something else. There was so much to learn about the man behind all things Disney. And we were even there on Disneyland's 55th Anniversary, which I found pretty neat. Hopefully someday very soon I will get a post up about our experience there. But I can tell you this much: I will be going back for sure!

San Francisco Walk for Hope

Last October I blogged about my experience with the S.F. Walk for Hope with my Target fellow Target team members to raise money for Breast Cancer research. This past June another walk took place in S.F. with money raised benefiting research for all Women's cancers and I was glad to be able to walk in support. The walk started at Justin Hermann Plaza down the Embarcadero towards AT&T Park (home of the San Francisco Giants) and back to the Plaza coming in around 5K or 3 miles. It was a gorgeous day to be out with my coworkers to support a good cause!

AIDS Walk San Francisco

It's been roughly 2 years since I last took part in the AIDS Walk in San Francisco, a 10K/6.2 mile trek through Golden Gate Park. One of the things that I love about where I work is getting to participate in fundraiser events like this as well as other opportunities to help out in our community. Despite a nasty sunburn on my face it was a perfect day and I even managed to walk the entire 6.2 miles in under 2 hours (1 hour 45 minutes to be exact), but the most exciting thing was being a part of the $3 million + that was raised. And we were even treated with the cast of Wicked performing "For Good", one of my favorite songs from the amazing musical that I was lucky enough to see in person back in January.

Needless to say that my summer has been dominated by a lot of walking but some fun times have been had. I've even taken to joining the dad and the dog for some nice long walks downtown. It's about time I started adding some form of exercise into my life again! It also should come as no surprise that I am in the midst of planning another visit to Disneyland this year. 47 days to go, not that I'm counting or anything like that! It will be a belated birthday trip coinciding with HalloweenTime at the Disneyland Resort. I've been dying to see that Halloween decorations for some time now and I finally get that chance.

Funny enough I never did finish that report from last years birthday extravaganza, did I? It can't hurt to turn back the old clock and finish that, could it? It'll only get me (or keep me) in the Disney planning mood!
